Nest: Day 46
Day 46
A promise and a few licks.
If you’ve ever hired professional cleaners–and I’m talking about a cleaning service, not some fabulous person you found who gets down and scrubs–you’ll note that when they’re finished your house it looks lovely and gives you a relaxed feeling. (Someone who actually scrubs is golden and must be retained at all costs.)
But pay attention to what these cleaning services actually do, and you’ll be surprised.Their method is to go fast, see things in broad strokes, and concentrate on making flat surfaces shine…not scrubbing between the cracks with a toothbrush.
There’s a useful lesson in this, I think. All too often we ourselves become perfectionistic in our cleaning. Remember: give it a lick and a promise and spend your time on other, more rewarding things. No one will notice (except, maybe, you). (And don’t worry…there are times to detail clean.)
