Nest: Day 15

Day 15
The Ides, or I’d rather be…

From the film Rebel Without A Cause. James Dean is the rebel in red.

Creative people are rebels and must, alas, sometimes rebel against routines. Today is a scheduled day of rebellion.

We hereby proclaim the Ides of each month as Habithacking holidays. Stack up your shitspot.  Don’t face your place. Defy D-Day. Disobey your BOP.

Then fill in the blank.

“On the Ides,  I’d rather be   __________.”

What would you rather be doing? Do that instead.

There. Do you feel better?

(*From the Geek in me: technically, the Ides  falls on the 15th in March, May, July, and October only. It falls on the 13th in other months. But let’s not split hairs and hours and ides, OK?)

Morning routine:
Obey your BOP.
Polish your place.
Take five (an 8 minute break every half hour).
Shovel your shitspot.

D-Day every day…or at least on WeDnesday.
(If it’s the Ides, do whatcha want.)

Evening routine:
Polish your place.
Decide on duds.

  1. Heh. I tricked myself – I did the morning routine before I checked to see what today’s entry was.

But the timing is absolutely perfect. I arrived home today and thought about my afternoon routine (it really isn’t much, I promise! I’m taking it slow!) and thought “Ugh, I really don’t wanna. Oh, hey, it’s the ides!” Apparently I needed a free day today.

  2. Yes, R.M. K, you surely did need an ides day. And some of us need more than one Ides per month, which is why I’ve only just returned from my vacation. You are quite the wonder, having done your morning routine before you even checked in. Bravo. I fear it’s afternoon and my morning routine has barely begun.
