Nest: Day 74

Day 74
Behind the mean door.

Under the kitchen sink is everything but the kitchen sink. It’s a dark, dank cupboard that holds garbage, dish soap, dirty rags, sponges, mouse traps, and the abrasive cleanser that’s all clumpy.

But no more. Because today you clean it out, figure out why it’s not working, and then add a few items to your shopping list, if needed.

There are lots of cool accessories you can buy to make this cabinet more efficient, some of them expensive. A few years ago I redid all my below-sink cabinets–both bathrooms and kitchen. I bought the cheap plastic shelves similar to photo below and  placed plastic bins on them so I can slide them out like drawers.  Then I put stick-on hooks on the door to hang scrub brushes. My kitchen sink cabinet has stayed clean ever since and I’m happy with my solution, although I’m sure the more pricey products are wonderful.

Take a half hour or so to unload your below-sink kitchen cabinet. Rethink what you want to keep under there. Do a thorough wash, make a list of what you need, and reconfigure. You’ll be happy you did every time you have to open that door.

I love and use this kind of shelf under my kitchen sink.
